Brown Girl

I was a dark brown skin little girl. I had wild hair and rough knees. I would play all day until an injury occurred and then run inside to get patched up. They sometimes made fun of me. Of the way I talked and dressed. Mostly of my dark brown skin.

*I’ve learned if you insert a positive adjective when describing or reading something hurtful it changes your perspective. Try it out.

I was a BEAUTIFUL dark brown skin little girl. I had BEAUTIFUL wild hair and rough knees. I would play all day until an injury occurred and then run inside to get patched up. They sometimes made fun of me. Of the way I talked and dressed BEAUTIFULLY. Mostly of my BEAUTIFUL dark brown skin.

Exercise and start defining your pain by dissecting words or things that trigger the hurt. True I’m not a doctor and this may not be effective for everything. However, I buried pain thinking that something was actually wrong with being a brown girl until i realized I was a AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL, CREATIVE brown girl.
